I’ve barely started reading this, but so far it’s quite promising. I’ve read almost all Davies’ fiction and can honestly say that the man is a genius. It’s a pity that he’s not well-known here in the US — his work easily stands with (and often surpasses) Eco and Calvino. Monk’s discussion of the Jungian aspects in Davies’ work is extremely well-done.
